Columbia Comes Together For West Family Benefit Concert

One of our favorite things about the Columbia/Maury County community is the tight-knit bond these folks have and their willingness to support each other — and we’re proud to be a part of that. Showing those in our community a little #puckettslove is what we love most…. which is why we’re hosting the West Family Benefit Show featuring The Larson Family this Saturday, Sept. 19th at 8 p.m. in downtown Columbia!

All tips donated during the show will be given to the West ladies — a close, local family of three daughters and their mother who have happily lived on a self-sufficient homestead for the past 20 years.

Due to recent changes regarding the land they’ve lived on and loved for so long, the family was forced to move into a temporary housing arrangement for the time being. For that reason, our community is locking arms with the Wests in an effort to help them build a permanent home.

Blessed with a rich Southern musical heritage, Vicki and her daughters, Jasmine, Cecilia and Hannah, have been singing and playing music together for years with a blood harmony sound that’s reminiscent of old country and mountain music from days gone by.

When fellow musicians Don and Shelly Larson heard about the West ladies’ situation, they decided to kick things up a notch to help out. The couple, along with their four children Gracey, Amy, Emily and Zach, love to sing and perform acapella hymns, which is why they resolved to use their family’s gift of harmony to raise funds through a benefit concert at Puckett’s.

According to Shelly Larson, her family couldn’t help but get involved.

“As Christians, we strongly believe God gives you things to direct your path,” she said. “The West ladies are very good and loving women who do a lot of service in their community. When we decided to do the concert and were looking for a place to host it, everyone I talked to said Puckett’s was the best place in the whole world — the owner has such a spirit of giving about him, and Puckett’s comes with that reputation.”

This Saturday’s show will feature the Larson family, in addition to other local musicians and vocalists with no cover charge. Call us for reservations (931-490-4550), and help support your local community!

“People can do anything when they come together,” Shelly said. “So come out, do what you can and enjoy the evening!”
