We honestly just can’t sit on this any longer……… we’re opening in downtown Chattanooga in just a few short days!!!!!!
Yes, you read that right.
This past fall, we announced Puckett’s first move out of Middle Tennessee with plans to open a location on the Tennessee Aquarium Plaza. After nearly a year of building rehabilitation and anticipation, our Puckett’s Gro. & Restuarant location on the Riverfront District is throwing open the doors for a public grand opening on Tuesday, September 1…and as you can tell, we’re pretty dang excited!
**Thank you to all our friends who have patiently waited for this opening, and encouraged us along the way. We have now seen the power of the Chattanooga community — and can say it’s something special! We can’t wait to start serving this town.**
This River City restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week–so you can always get your downhome cookin’ fix. We’ll also be hosting local musicians on Fridays and Saturdays beginning at 9 p.m., with plans to extend the live music into weeknights in the near future.
With 6,750 square feet and more than 230 seats in the dining room and patio areas, this will be Puckett’s largest location to date!
Here’s what Max Stephenson, our longtime friend and general manager of the Chatt location, says about the Chattanooga launch:
“Puckett’s first priority is putting roots in the community, and that community is an important factor at each location. We’ve already seen Chattanooga’s response to that, and hope to continue to help drive the energy downtown! We think locals will enjoy our emphasis on an intimate and laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re in your own home when eating a meal or listening to the music.”
Oh, and if you see folks already talking about their experience at Chattanooga, it’s because next week we’re also hosting a “soft launch” to help train our associates from August 24 through August 31. We’ll be quietly slinging biscuits and barbecue as we gear up for the public opening — feel free to join us, but know that the real Puckett’s experience won’t begin ’till September 1!
The Chattanooga restaurant hours (beginning Sept. 1) will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. For more information about the restaurant, go to www.puckettsgrocery.com… or followa long at www.facebook.com/puckettschattanooga!
If you’re still learning about Puckett’s, here’s real quick rundown of what you can expect:
A Tennessee landmark with decades-old roots stretching back to the 1950s, we’ve built our name on hosting live, local musical acts and serving Southern staples like classic meat-and-three items and our slow-smoked BBQ. The Puckett’s menus boasts of our Tennessee heritage, with our own special spin on breakfast, lunch and dinner items. Morning favorites include sweet potato pancakes topped with pulled pork and a downhome take on the eggs Benedict; lunch highlights range from a fried green tomato B.L.T. to heavy helpings of meat-and-three classics; and popular dinner dishes include grits topped with blackened sautéed shrimp, Cajun fried chicken over a bed of hot waffles or grilled salmon brushed with a moonshine glaze.
Oh, and here’s something fun: in 2015, Puckett’s was named one of the best barbecue restaurants in the country, according to a new book, The 100 Best Barbecue Restaurants in America. The book recommends the ribs, which are ranked as one of the Top 10 in America. Puckett’s ambiance also made its own Top 10 list.
“We take our pride in authentic, home-cooked dishes and our barbecue. The secret to that is the 18-hour process, one that includes slow ‘n’ low cooking over cherry wood and a wrap that mimics the sous vide tradition,” says Andy Marshall, Puckett’s owner. “And when possible, Puckett’s always supports our local purveyors and farmers. We’re looking forward to establishing relationships with those people in the immediate area.”
And you can’t forget about the music here at Puckett’s! At our Nashville and Franklin locations, hundreds of the most talented artists have performed over the years, from Alan Jackson and Luke Bryan to Keith Urban and Lady Antebellum. Many times, we get to see songwriters rise from its stage to the national arena–favorite artists like Chris Janson, who performed songs like his “Buy Me a Boat” single at Puckett’s before topping the charts.
“At Puckett’s, music is just as much ingrained in our culture as the cooking,” says Claire Marshall Crowell, our director of operations. “That’s really where we’ve built our name, and you can’t separate the music from the menu. We’ve seen that Chattanooga is a rising star in the music industry, and we can’t wait to tap into that.”
